Here is the neat little Valco "Supro" tube amp that I first played through.  It was purchased and used by my Father (R. Samuel Lam, http://www.whiteclaytributary.com) in the fifties.  My dad used to put a contact pickup on his fiddle and play square dances in a fire hall.  He enjoyed a certain amount of local celebrity.

I "borrowed" it from him a few years ago during a visit, and thankfully so. the barn where he was storing it was burned to the ground by an arsonist (the son of a fire chief...).

I replaced the tubes, and she sounds as good as ever.  the circuit layout and sound are nearly identical to an old Fender Champ.  It uses a 6SL7 for a pre-amp stage and a single 6V6 for "single ended" output.
